On June 16th, 2012 the ArtsPark in Downtown Hollywood came alive to a vibrant blend of Caribbean culture featuring arts, craft, food, music and more; and culminating into a grand performance by Trinidad’s one and only David Michael Rudder. The free, family event, aptly called “Colors of the Caribbean,” was produced by Caribbean American Heritage Florida, Inc (CAHFI), who intend on making it a premier, annual, family, Caribbean event in South Florida.
According to an official statement by CAHFI Executive Director, Asa Sealy, the event attracted approximately 5000 visitors, and during the VIP Reception, Mayor Peter Bober stated, “This is the biggest and best attended event ever held at the ArtsPark.”
It was on this backdrop that TriniSpirit launched its new product line of TriniSpirit branded apparel and merchandise including Polo Shirts, Duffel Bags, Caps, Backpacks, Aluminum Beverage Bottles, shot glasses, and lapel pins. With a team of 8, TriniSpirit prepared an elaborate display, to celebrate the spirit of Trinidad and Tobago, in anticipation of their 50th year of independence.
The TriniSpirit booth served as the hub of activity for Trini’s in attendance, and the team interacted and engaged with adults and children with stickers, informational brochures, and a raffle. We asked Terri from Hollywood to explain what is TriniSpirit? She stated, “TriniSpirit is about sharing, inviting people and getting them to know our culture, and showing them what love is all about.” When asked about the booth, Terri replied, “I love it! It made me stop, and I am very happy with what I am seeing, especially all of the Trinidad representation, and very, very proud to say I am Trinidadian.”
TriniSpirit was pleased to be part of this landmark event, and extends special thanks to Caribbean American Heritage Foundation, Inc. for their commitment towards promoting the culture of the Caribbean in South Florida.
